Run out of brown sugar or just want to start making your own? It’s so easy and only uses 2 ingredients!

The trick to making brown sugar is to keep mixing it until it’s ready. Sounds simple, I know. But it likes to clump up and will have you wondering if it’s going to work sometimes. It’s okay, it happens, and it will. You just break up the little clumps and mix it all right in. Sometimes it’s easier than others times. Why? I’m not sure but it always comes together in the end!

All you need is granulated sugar and molasses.

Whether you are looking to make light brown sugar or dark brown sugar is completely up to you. It takes about 1-2 tablespoons of molasses to 1 cup of sugar. The best part about making your own is that you get to control how light or dark you want it. So feel free to add a little bit more molasses if desired. This is your food so make it how you like it! I’m just here to help!

This can be made with a hand mixer, fork, or stand mixer. Whatever is convenient for you! Stand mixer or hand mixer just makes it a little faster and more convenient.

Storing your brown sugar: I typically store mine in an airtight container with a piece of bread. They do make clay stones that you soak then place in the container with your brown sugar but I have yet to have success with those. Thankfully the bread hack has not failed me yet!
